Global Missions...ARE YOU PLUGGED IN YET?

As most of you know, I have led a very successful career in marketing for the past 15 years. However, all the money and all the success in the world did not bring the inner joy that I desired. Over the last six years, I have used my vacation time and personal resources to go on mission trips to Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, Colombia, and Uganda, Africa. I have felt God calling me to the mission field for a very long time. However, I was really scared to take the great leap of faith required to become a missionary. It required me to simplify my life and leave a very successful and lucrative career behind. So, I resisted and did what I could to appease that divine call to the mission field by going as often as my career allowed. I knew in my heart that it wasn't enough.

Even though I resisted, He didn't give up on me. He gave me the opportunity to serve Him in Cartagena, Colombia. I was there from June 13-20 in 2008. Many of you supported me with your prayers and I cannot thank you enough. Our team felt lifted in prayer during our entire trip and everything went smoothly. I saw many great things and many miracles happen right before my eyes. During our evangelism campaign in the barrios of Ciudadela Dos Mil, Arjona, Villa Hermosa, and a few others in Cartagena, we saw over 300 people accept Christ. Did I mention there were only 10 people on my team? On top of that, I personally had the opportunity to lead approximately 200 children to Christ at the local school in Arjona.

This was not part of our plan, but it was definitely part of His perfect plan.

On this trip, I received the confirmation of His call. He has called me to the mission field. Everything I have learned and experienced until now has been in perfect preparation for the plan and purpose He had for me. I love to travel. I love different cultures and people. I have a love for the diverse languages of the world. But above all, I have a passion for Christ and for bringing his gift of salvation and message to world. It gives me tremendous pleasure to see His hand at work through me as I watch him change lives and make disciples.

This is my passion… this is my calling…this is where you come in…

I need you to be part of my support team. The most important part of your job is prayer! I need your prayer support. The entire team, the ministry, and I need to be lifted in prayer. Ask the Lord to go before us and prepare the hearts of those that will hear the message we will bring. Pray that we are able to completely empty ourselves and be filled with His Spirit and allow Him to work through us.

Your support is also needed to help fund my ministry. I place my trust in the Lord to provide for my financial needs through the generous gifts of people just like you! Some invest $100, $50 or $35 a month in our ministry. Others give a special gift of $100, $250 or more from time to time. I ask that you prayerfully consider joining my support team and give as the Lord leads you. No amount is too small and I assure you that He will bless it and multiply it! Let Him lead you when deciding the amount.

Why am I asking for your help?

If I just pay the whole thing myself, I am denying others the opportunity to get plugged in.
It has been said that when it comes to missions we have three possibilities:

GO, SEND, or DISOBEY.

Not all will or can go. Sending is done through financial and prayer support. Most church-going Christians in America do not know where their missions dollars go or what they are used for. This is an opportunity for you to know exactly where and how your donations will be making an impact. The payback for this investment will be seen in heaven as people from every tribe, tongue, and nation gather together at Jesus' feet in worship.
Want to be a part of what God is doing?  Will you commit to pray or support through a financial gift?

He has made a way...

As many of you know, I really felt called to return to Cartagena, Colombia this year.  The experience last year was amazing.  I sing praises to the One who makes all things possible.

I can't wait to go back!

Please start praying...
-for the entire team of missionaries
-for God to prepare fertile soil for the seeds that will be planted.
-for all the people of Cartagena, Colombia
-for each one of the lives that will be changed when they hear the good news
-for the spiritual preparation of all those who will travel
-for families left behind
-safe travel

You are an important part of God's work.
Go. Pray. Send. Give.

How did I get so lucky?

It is such a blessing to be God's hands and feet in the mission field.  I love sharing the love of Christ!

Girls in need of Serious Prayer!

These girls are in need of serious prayer.  After they saw the drama presented by our team, we had an opportunity to talk.  They really had something to share.  They felt they could speak to me because they felt like God had sent us there for them.

I met these girls in a school in Honduras.  All have been through serious abuse.  I will not go into detail, but suffice it to say that the person inflicting the abuse is in their family.  They cannot tell anyone or go to the authorities due to the specific circumstances.

They shall remain nameless but God knows who they are.  They are good Christian girls.
They need strength and courage to make it through this difficult time and to move forward.
They need to know God's unconditional love and they need to feel safe.

School Program in Honduras

We had the opportunity to go to several schools and I was able to speak to all the children and share with them about God's redemptive grace through Jesus Christ.  Our team then shared a short drama with music about a teenager who gets lost through abuse, sex, drugs, and alcohol.  The teenager finally turns to Christ and changes her life.

New Life Children's home in Jalaca, Honduras

This is my beautiful Sarahi.  She lives at the New Life Home for Children in Jalaca, Honduras.  Her smile brightened every single day!  There was nothing better than walking down the stairs and watching her scream "Tia Nancy, Tia Nancy" as she ran into my arms.

Sarahi loves to dance, sing and laugh.  She was a blast!!

This is Sarahi on the last day.  We had the opportunity to provide lice treatments for all the girls and my friend Lana (who is a super make up artist to the stars) gave each of the girls a haircut.  It was a wonderful day.  All the girls felt like princesses!

This was our last day at the orphanage and she was very sad that we were leaving.  She sat by my bag and pouted.

Josue snuck on the bus for one last hug as we were leaving.  He was one of the tough little bullies that was in desperate need of serious love and attention.  And God sent me there to give it to him!!  We had such an awesome time sharing the story of Jesus with these boys and then watching the change begin to happen in them as they accepted Jesus into their hearts!

Pray for her and all the children at the New Life Home for Children.  This home is a blessing to these children.  The economic situation in Honduras is very bad.  Most families cannot afford to feed their children, clothe them, or send them to school.  Most families have to allow their children to enter a government program called INFA.  This program actually takes the children away from their homes and places them in a building that resembles a federal prison.  Barbed wire, metal bars on windows, dozens of bunk beds in one large open area are just the tip of the iceberg when describing this program.

New Life Children Home is making a difference for some of those children.  Approximately 30 children are given a safe place to live.  There are no more than 3-4 children per room and they have a school onsite.  So, each child is receiving an education, three meals a day, and uniforms to wear all from a Christian foundation.  Here the kids get to be kids...

Pray for the children, the people teaching them and raising them, also pray for the parents.  It cannot be easy to let your child go because you cannot provide for them.

Let's catch up on 2008...

As most of you know, I am fairly new to this blogging phenomenon.  But I figure it is time to get with the program since everyone else is doing it...

Hopefully, this will make it easier for all of you to keep up with my adventures and to continue to pray for my ministry in  missions.

This year has been a blessed year.

In June 2008, I was able to go to Colombia with a team from Winnsboro, Texas.  We served in Cartagena, Colombia.  We had the privilege of putting on a VBS for the children in Ciudadela 2000 and in Arjona.  We also worshipped in the newly planted church in Villa Hermosa.  The people of Colombia were very open to receive the word of God.  We had a pretty amazing group of individuals!  God totally blessed us during our time there!

Then in August 2008, I served in Jalaca, Honduras.  A team from My church (Fellowship Church) went down and spent a week onsite at the New Life Orphan Home.  It was one of the toughest weeks.  The conditions were pretty crazy...but the children were so amazing.  There are so many stories to tell.  I will have to go back and cover some of those stories individually because I need to ask for prayer on a lot of them.

Then in September 2008, God made one of my biggest dreams come true.  I went to Africa.  Those who know me well know that my heart has always desired to travel to Africa.  That was my dream...but God's dream was sooooo much bigger than mine!  He took me to Africa with a mission...with His purpose...it was awesome.  I will share more details about this trip in a separate post.  More to come...
